SadaNews - The Shahid Center Meets with the French Consulate as Part of Its Campaign to Support Recognition of the State of Palestine
SadaNews - The Shahid Center for Citizen Rights and Community Development launched its initiative to encourage countries around the world to recognize the State of Palestine by engaging with civil society organizations, parliamentarians, and decision-makers in several countries, especially in Europe.
In this context, the Shahid Center held a dialogue meeting today, Tuesday 5/8/2025, with the Deputy French Consul in Palestine Mr. Kwantha Lobwan and Political Advisor Mr. Pierre Blanchard regarding French efforts, attended by several politicians, lawyers, journalists, and a representative from the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The meeting was moderated by the Secretary-General of the Shahid Center, Dr. Mohammad Arqaat.
For his part, Mr. Blanchard explained that this step is important and should have been taken some time ago, with the increased need for it due to the rising attacks by settlers and assaults in general in the West Bank, as well as the need to impose sanctions on any violation. He confirmed that recognition will occur at the present time, and then all necessary measures will be considered to solidify the State of Palestine.
Mr. Blanchard noted that France's initiation of recognition procedures has prompted many countries, such as Malta and Switzerland, among others, to consider taking a step toward recognizing the Palestinian state.
The attendees presented a commemorative shield to the French president through the embassy in recognition of his efforts and his intention to recognize the State of Palestine.
