The European Union Imposes New Sanctions on Russia
SadaNews Economy - The European Union has imposed a new package of sanctions on Russia in light of the war in Ukraine, which includes a reduction in the price of Russian oil designated for export, according to diplomatic sources.
A diplomat in Brussels confirmed at the conclusion of a meeting of EU ambassadors on Friday morning, "We have reached an agreement on a strong and effective eighteenth package of sanctions against Russia," according to Agence France-Presse (AFP).
EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas stated, "The European Union has just approved one of the strongest sanction packages against Russia to date."
This package marks the eighteenth round of economic sanctions imposed on Moscow since the start of the war with Ukraine in 2022.
It was approved after Slovakia dropped a weeks-long obstruction following talks with Brussels about separate plans to gradually end Russian gas imports.
