So that "Fatah Movement" does not turn into the President's Party
With our wishes for success to the new leadership of the Fatah Movement, and that the controversial issues surrounding the eighth Fatah conference are resolved, allowing the new leadership to focus on facing the challenges of occupation, whether in the West Bank or Gaza Strip, it is worth noting that the lack of clarity and transparency during the conference has left repercussions and internal challenges that will affect the movement's work. The number of those distanced from the conference or protesting the electoral process and its results cannot be ignored, as these individuals are no less important and loyal to the movement than those who participated in the conference. Additionally, those who could be classified as thinkers and intellectuals were absent from the membership of the Central Committee and the Revolutionary Council. We hope that this issue will be addressed in the new advisory council's composition, granting it effective powers and forming a strategic thinking cell within it. It cannot be overlooked that "regional and international quotas" were obvious in the composition of the Central Committee, as some individuals remained in their positions due to being aligned with Jordan, the USA, and other parties, while the exclusion of others was due to settling scores related to their work on the Organization's property file in Lebanon and the arms of the factions there, as well as their positions supporting Hamas, which angered the Palestinians in Gaza.
For all these reasons, and since the President's fingerprint was evident in all proceedings of the conference, there are fears that the new Fatah Movement is heading towards becoming the President's and Authority's party, drifting away from its original foundations and principles. This also raises concerns about the strengthening of the reformist trend (Dahlans group), which may lead to the emergence of splits or new competitive Fatah parties against the central organization after the President's absence, unless quick reconciliations within Fatah take place and a rapid movement by the new leadership towards formulating a strategy and political program for the upcoming phase.
