Who is responsible for the failure of the Arab League?

Certainly, the positions of countries regarding the Palestinian issue and all that was considered vital issues for the Arab nation, such as Arab unity, joint Arab work, confronting the ambitions of neighboring countries and the West, the stance on Israel, and the position on the war against Iran, vary significantly. This variation primarily stems from the novelty of the national association and the weak belief in it, as well as the rulers' insistence on power and their competition for leadership.

Therefore, disagreements and conflicts among Arab countries were more pronounced than joint Arab work, and economic relations among themselves were much less than their relations with other countries. Even the Arab League, which was established in 1945 and was hoped to be a unifying house for Arab countries, has not resolved any problem or dispute among the Arab nations; rather, it implements the policies of its funders.

It is true that the League's charter, which requires consensus for the issuance of binding decisions, may pose an obstacle, but the question is: Why hasn’t the charter been changed?! The (non-League League) has transformed into merely a structure devoid of life, convening at summit levels or lower levels to issue statements and decisions that have never been implemented; merely to claim that it exists, or to meet the demands of the most influential and wealthy Arab state, whether it be Saddam's Iraq, or Saudi Arabia, or Qatar, or the UAE, or executing American instructions aiming to extract an Arab decision upon which it can rely for military intervention in the region. The worst phases of the Arab League were when it was headed by Ahmed Aboul Gheit. Were it not for the Arab Republic of Egypt's efforts to maintain the continuity of the League and to uphold the minimal level of national association, the League would have ended and vanished years ago.

And now the UAE and Gulf states are asking: Where is the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation regarding the aggression their countries are facing from Iran? While it is the funds from the Gulf states that have covered up the failures and corruption of the League, prolonging its life and employing it to implement and pass their policies. There is no excuse for the Gulf states in their delayed complaints about the Arab League, and it is unacceptable to exploit this negative stance of the League and some Arab countries to justify strengthening their alliance and relations with the Zionist enemy, and for Emirati and Bahraini channels to participate in a joint broadcast with Israeli channels.
