The Ground War is Coming and the Required Shift

Gradually, the nature of the Israeli-American war on Iran is shifting from air and naval strikes aimed at weakening the Iranian government to accepting American conditions regarding its nuclear and missile program and its relationship with its allies in the region to protect Israel, to ground military operations intended to reach deeper objectives; for Israel, to overthrow the Iranian regime by creating favorable conditions for a popular uprising or encouraging an ongoing civil war based on ethnic conflict in Iran, and for the American administration to dominate Iranian oil similar to Venezuelan oil and control the vital Strait of Hormuz to manage global oil and gas reserves on one hand, and bolster American capabilities in countering Chinese advances on the international system on the other. The signs indicating a transition of the American-Israeli war to military occupation, similar to what happened in Afghanistan in 2001 and Iraq in 2003, are represented by statements from US President Donald Trump regarding controlling the Strait of Hormuz and the Khark oil island, and the announcement of sending Marine troops and some ships designated for amphibious combat, not to mention the possibility of conducting special operations to seize the enriched uranium held by Iran, both of which require a human force on the ground for potentially extended periods. This situation suggests that the United States, which came to undertake a military mission for a limited number of days or weeks, is turning into a duration that could extend to many years in a ground battle for control over a geographical area of about 1.7 million square kilometers, alongside the ambitions of a nation with a regional status, and ideological forces opposing the United States and Israel, which threatens global stability and not just the Middle East region. Despite the fact that this trend contradicts President Trump's electoral slogan and the national security strategy he announced last November and the nature of Republican party thinking, the history of American imperialism indicates that the leaders of this party are the most militarily interventionist at the international level. In my opinion, we are at a turning point in this war that has significant implications for the region and its future political landscape, marked by ground military intervention; especially given the deep understanding among the countries in the region that this Israeli war is intended to enforce Israeli dominance over the area and further wars to subjugate it, aiming for colonial expansion at the expense of Arab states and realizing the biblical dreams of the far-right in Israel and the political survival of Netanyahu. This necessitates a fundamental adjustment in existing policies and alliances relying on the United States, and building an Arab strategy based on strengthening its capabilities and acquiring military systems in a framework of integrative cooperation among them, and through activating and developing the joint Arab defense agreement in line with shifts in the international system and economic interests of the Arab states and protecting their borders and airspace from any future aggression.
