Do Not Let Down the Millions of Italian Supporters
I closely followed the beautiful dramatic transformation in the Italian public mood. At the beginning of the war on Gaza, it was officially biased and even participated through the ruling right by supplying the occupation with lethal ammunition, and if it didn't find it, it bought it from the capital of evil, which no prophet has ever set foot on, namely the United States with Israel.
Those who opposed the war in Italy and stood in solidarity with our people were only in the tens, participating in small demonstrations. The official Italian media supported the occupation as if it were broadcasting from Netanyahu's house, directed by the expired female Meloni, who hasn't uttered a word about the genocide of children, as if she lost her maternal and feminine feelings.
Then, as the war continued, the public mood shifted, and demonstrations became daily in Italian cities, accompanied by general strikes, with more than six million Italians taking to the streets and squares on the day of the big strike across seventy cities. The mood returned to what it was in the 1970s and 1980s, and we heard positions reminiscent of those echoed by Pertini, Berlinguer, Moro, and Andreotti.
Moro, who was trying to escape the American grip and move towards the space of his surroundings in the Mediterranean, was assassinated by Americans using tools called the Red Brigades, who are innocent of his blood because the instigator was American, as I concluded at the time from observations I gathered in Rome and which I recently confirmed.
Now Meloni is trying to verbally retreat from her pro-occupation stance, but her weapons are still striking us. We heard news from Rome that the annual celebration of the ruling fascist party, Brothers of Italy, invited the Palestinian Authority to participate in its celebration. This, I believe, is a painful blow to all Italian supporters, who number in the millions. How do we repay their massive demonstrations by participating in a celebration for those who suppress any demonstration or media outlet that supports us! It’s as if we are participating in a celebration for Smotrich and Ben Gvir, and perhaps they will be among the invitees. In Italy, soldiers of the occupation take their vacations, and no judiciary pursues them, but instead, they pursue any writer, journalist, or woman who raises a Palestinian flag on her balcony. Official participation means that we stab friends in the back and reward the camp of war against our people.
