Al-Quds Awn Agency Launches Summer Schools Program in Jerusalem for the 2026 Season

SadaNews - The Al-Quds Awn Agency, affiliated with the Al-Quds Committee headed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, launched today, Tuesday, July 14, 2026, in Jerusalem, the summer schools program for the 2026 season, funded by the Kingdom of Morocco. The program activities have actually commenced from the towns of Silwan, Bir Nabala, and Abu Dis, as well as the Old City of Jerusalem and the Ras Al-Amoud neighborhood. It will gradually expand to include about 20 summer schools in various neighborhoods of Jerusalem and several villages in the governorate. This year, more than 3,000 children aged between 4 and 17 will benefit from the program, with stationery and educational and sports materials provided to the benefiting associations, alongside art supplies, theatrical performances, psychological support workshops, and activities related to modern technology and life skills development. The Al-Quds Awn Agency indicated that supporting community organizations in Jerusalem to implement the summer schools program aims to provide a safe environment for children and offer psychological and social support through artistic, musical, and handicraft activities. The program includes recreational and movement activities, water and air games, recreational trips, sporting and environmental events, workshops for painting and theater as well as traditional crafts, in addition to specialized activities in technology and artificial intelligence, through supporting the summer school "Hilal Tech." For her part, Susan Taysir, head of the Northwest Jerusalem Ladies' Association in Bir Nabala, appreciated the support provided by the Al-Quds Awn Agency, affirming that the agency continues to implement educational and developmental programs that contribute to enhancing the resilience of the children of Jerusalem and their families, and that this is not the first initiative carried out in partnership with the association. She added that the event, benefiting about 300 children, including 50 children with disabilities who were integrated with their peers in cooperation with the Joint Committee for People with Disabilities in the villages of Northwest Jerusalem, contributes to bringing joy to children's hearts. The child Ella said that the activities and games included in the recreational day brought joy to the children's hearts and allowed them to have a good time. The child Selene added that the event included games, entertainment segments, and the distribution of gifts, which contributed to the children's happiness and created joyful atmospheres among them. As for the child Adam, he sent a message to the organizers of the camp, calling for it to continue being held annually, affirming that it is one of the most beautiful summer activities that children are eager to participate in. For his part, the director of the Arab Institute in Abu Dis, Muin Amour, confirmed that the camp, supported by the Moroccan Cultural Center Association, along with previous assistance provided to internal students, has left a positive impact on the students' spirits, particularly the orphans. He stated that recreational activities have contributed to improving the children's psychological state and getting them out of their daily routines, which will reflect positively on their academic achievement. Additionally, Abdul Fattah Asfour, the supervisor of the internal department at the institute, emphasized that the camp program will provide orphans with a summer filled with recreational activities and events that bring joy to their faces, giving them an opportunity they have been waiting for. He expressed his appreciation for the role played by the Kingdom of Morocco and the Al-Quds Awn Agency in caring for orphaned students. Student Yamen Oweisat expressed his gratitude to the Moroccan Cultural Center Association in Jerusalem for its support of the summer camp, confirming that this initiative has contributed to bringing joy to the students' hearts, valuing Morocco's efforts in caring for and supporting children. The launch of the summer schools program coincided with the visit of the director in charge of managing the Al-Quds Awn Agency, Dr. Mohamed Salem Al-Sharkawi, to Palestine, to launch the integrated system to support education and vocational training in Jerusalem for the 2027-2030 period. On this occasion, Al-Sharkawi confirmed that the summer schools program aligns with the agency's vision aimed at expanding programs directed at children and youth, as part of its strategy for the period 2025-2030, which is based on enhancing human development and social support, alongside preserving the cultural and civilizational identity of the city of Jerusalem, in line with the high directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, President of the Al-Quds Committee. He pointed out that the agency will continue to develop programs aimed at children and youth through the implementation of summer schools and camps, launching new seasons of the animated series "The Five Gates of Jerusalem" on the "Haya" platform, and publishing the educational magazine "Haya" and "Maqdisi Notebooks," as well as organizing simulation courses for the international summit for childhood for Jerusalem, which strengthens the connection of younger generations to their city and identity.
