You Are No Longer Bound to Your Computer.. OpenClaw Reaches Mobile Phones Amid User Complaints

SadaNews - The "OpenClaw" organization, responsible for the popular AI assistant, has launched a mobile application that allows you to control the smart agent directly from your phone without using any external applications or tools, according to a report from the American tech site "TechCrunch".

In brief, "OpenClaw" is an open-source personal AI assistant categorized as a generation of "AI Agents." It operates independently to perform tasks on your behalf - such as managing calendars, reading and summarizing emails, and sending messages - through regular chat applications like WhatsApp and Telegram.

The new application simply connects your phone directly to the AI agent available on your computer via the "OpenClaw Gateway," enabling you to use your personal AI agents directly from your phone.

The new "OpenClaw" application also provides conditional access, with user consent, to all components of your phone and the data stored within it, ranging from the camera, photos, screen, user location, and even contacts and notifications. Hence, the agent can control all these aspects and add or delete items or even search for them directly within the phone, according to a report from the American tech site "Engadget".

Despite the significant buzz generated by "OpenClaw" following its launch and the emergence of "MoltBook," which is a social media platform dedicated to AI agents, many users have expressed dissatisfaction with the mobile application, according to a report from the American tech site "Android Authority".

Criticism included the application’s interface and design, as well as the difficulty in directly connecting the application to the AI agent on the computer.

Additionally, some users reported via responses to the application announcement on the "X" platform that the app does not work even after installing it and directly connecting it to the AI agent on the computer, as it fails to respond to commands correctly.

Some users described the application as an incomplete version despite their support and attraction to the idea. This criticism included both the iOS and Android versions of the application.

It is worth noting that the inventor of "OpenClaw," Peter Steinberger, moved to work with the "OpenAI" team, leaving the technology management to a non-profit organization that works on its development and maintenance, according to a report from "Engadget".

Can You Control "OpenClaw" from Your Phone?

Although the mobile application launched by the "OpenClaw" organization did not meet users’ expectations, they were not waiting for it to be able to control their AI agents.

Users rely on a number of methods to communicate directly with "OpenClaw" and benefit from its various features within their phones, but without granting it access to the camera and other phone components.

These methods include communicating with "OpenClaw" through the Telegram or WhatsApp platforms directly, and some access it through an API and a specialized website if hosted in the cloud.

It is noted that the AI agents sector has witnessed the launch of several new technologies and agents that compete with "OpenClaw," such as the AI agent "Hermes," which has recently become the latest trend in the AI agents sector to the extent that the American company "Nvidia" published a blog post about it and its use with its various devices.
