"Bayt Mal Al-Quds" Delivers Shipment of Furniture and Complete Equipment to Orphanage at the Arab Institute in Abu Dis
SadaNews - On Thursday, the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Al-Sharif Agency delivered a shipment of furniture and complete equipment to the orphanage at the Arab Institute in the town of Abu Dis, east of Jerusalem. This is part of its social program aimed at supporting institutions that care for orphans and the most needy groups in the city and its suburbs, attended by the director of the institute and notable Jerusalem figures.
The agency stated in a statement that this shipment, funded by the Council of the Al-Qunaitra Community in the Kingdom of Morocco, included furnishings and electrical equipment, in addition to kitchen facilities, which contribute to improving the living environment within the orphanage and enhance the institute's ability to continue its educational and humanitarian mission in serving orphans and needy students in Jerusalem.
On this occasion, Dr. Moein Amour, the director of the Arab Institute in Abu Dis, stated that the donation provided by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Al-Sharif Agency will contribute to providing a better living environment for the dormitory students who are orphans, confirming that the new furniture and equipment will have a positive impact on their psychological state and will help them adapt within the residence.
He added that the institute, which fully cares for orphans in addition to hosting other social cases, is going through difficult financial and economic conditions since October 7, 2023, like many Palestinian institutions, especially after the halt of most sources of support, which poses a challenge to the continuity of its humanitarian mission.
For his part, member of the Islamic Higher Committee in Jerusalem, lawyer Azzam Al-Heshlamon, praised the support provided by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency to Jerusalem institutions, asserting that these institutions need assistance to continue their mission given the current circumstances, and that the Arab Institute is one of the oldest educational institutions in Jerusalem, playing a national and educational role in serving the city's children.
For his part, Dr. Amjad Ashhab, a professor of political science and public law and member of the committee, stated that supporting institutions that care for orphans represents an investment in the future of society, contributing to enhancing the resilience of Jerusalemites by providing an educational, upbringing and psychological environment that preserves the dignity of children and provides them with equal opportunities for education and integration within society, indicating that supporting the Arab Institute carries special importance given its historical and educational stature in the city of Jerusalem.
Meanwhile, student Yamen Hassan Awaisat (15 years old), who is one of the residents of the orphanage dormitory at the Arab Institute, said that the donation will contribute to improving the living and study environment within the residence, and will help him and his fellow residents to adapt and continue their studies in more comfortable conditions, expressing his gratitude to the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency for this support.
It is worth mentioning that the Arab Institute currently hosts 52 orphans from the families of martyrs, prisoners, and social cases, among 650 students receiving basic and secondary education.
