Fattouh: The Seizure of Tayasir Lands is a Confirmation of Colonial Expansion
SadaNews - The Chairman of the Palestinian National Council, Rouhi Fattouh, stated that the Israeli occupation government's decision to seize 42 dunams of land from the village of Tayasir east of Tubas, under the pretext of military purposes, constitutes "an illegal land seizure crime against Palestinian territories and a blatant violation of international law and international legitimacy resolutions," which prohibit the occupying authority from seizing land or altering its legal and demographic status.
Fattouh confirmed in a statement issued today, Wednesday, that what is called military purposes is merely a cover for an accelerating colonial program aimed at imposing new realities on Palestinian land, as part of a systematic policy based on land seizure, colonial expansion, and restricting Palestinian citizens, forcing them to leave their lands.
He added that the occupying government is exploiting the region's instability and the wars taking place in the area to expedite its colonial plans, benefiting from the international community's preoccupation with global crises, to escalate its daily violations against our Palestinian people, their lands, and sanctities.
Fattouh called on the international community and the United Nations to assume their legal and moral responsibilities and take practical and immediate measures to stop the policy of land seizure, annexation, and colonial expansion, and to hold the occupation accountable for its continuous violations that undermine peace opportunities and entrench a system based on occupation and racial discrimination.
