60,000 worshipers perform Friday prayers at the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque

SadaNews - Approximately 60,000 worshipers performed Friday prayers today at the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, despite the tightened restrictions imposed by the Israeli occupation to access the mosque.

The Islamic Waqf Department in Jerusalem reported that tens of thousands of worshipers flocked to the Al-Aqsa Mosque since the morning to perform prayers within its premises, while the occupation forces imposed restrictions on citizens' entry through the gates of the Old City and the mosque.

Occupation forces spread around the Old City and at the mosque gates, detaining several young men and checking their identities, coinciding with the tightening of military procedures at the checkpoints surrounding the city of Jerusalem.

The Al-Aqsa Mosque continuously witnesses strict Israeli military measures that hinder citizens' access, especially during Fridays and religious occasions, amid calls from Jerusalemite and Palestinian communities to head to and stay in the blessed mosque.
