Qatari-Saudi Call Amid Fears of Ceasing the Truce Between Washington and Tehran

SadaNews - On Sunday, Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani discussed with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan the developments in regional situations and efforts to de-escalate tensions in the area, amid ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran.

According to a statement by the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the phone call between the two parties addressed bilateral relations and ways to enhance them, in addition to discussing developments related to the ceasefire between the United States and Iran, and efforts aimed at preventing a resurgence of tensions.

The Qatari minister stressed, according to the statement, the importance of "all parties responding to ongoing mediation efforts," which would open the door for "addressing the roots of the crisis through peaceful means and dialogue," leading to a sustainable agreement that prevents the return of military confrontation.

This comes at a time when U.S. President Donald Trump once again hinted at the possibility of resuming war on Iran, after posting a picture of warships on his "Truth Social" platform accompanied by the phrase "the calm before the storm" on Saturday evening.

This came a day after he confirmed that the military campaign against Iran "will continue."

The United States has imposed a blockade on Iranian ports since April 13, including ports located in the Strait of Hormuz, while Tehran responded by imposing restrictions on ship movement in the strait, amid fears of the existing truce that has been in place since April 8 collapsing if an agreement is not reached to end the Israeli-American war on Iran that began on February 28.
