Report: Trump Sets 'Red Line' for Returning to War with Iran
SadaNews: The Wall Street Journal revealed that U.S. President Donald Trump privately informed his aides that he may reconsider the ongoing ceasefire with Iran and resume large-scale hostilities if any Iranian attack results in the deaths of American soldiers.
The newspaper quoted U.S. officials as saying that Trump still adheres to the current truce despite ongoing limited confrontations and mutual attacks between the two sides in recent weeks.
According to officials, the repeated attacks between Washington and Tehran have increased pressure on the U.S. administration and raised questions about the ceasefire's ability to withstand in the coming period.
The report noted that Trump still believes in the possibility of reaching an agreement to end the confrontation with Iran, which would lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and address the issue of the Iranian nuclear program and the stockpile of enriched uranium.
The newspaper explained that Trump's stance reflects his desire to avoid slipping into a full-scale war in the Middle East, while being willing to tolerate a limited level of military escalation as long as it does not lead to direct U.S. casualties.
In recent days, there has been an exchange of attacks between the United States and Iran, while tensions over the Strait of Hormuz continue to cast shadows over global energy markets and trade.
