Iran Executes Two Individuals Accused of Involvement in Spy Network Linked to Israel
SadaNews - The Mizan news agency, affiliated with the judiciary, reported that Iran has executed two men convicted of collaborating with the Israeli intelligence agency "Mossad" and planning attacks within the country.
Mizan mentioned that the two men, Mohammad Masoum Shahi and Hamid Validi, were accused of belonging to a spy network linked to Mossad, and that they received training abroad, including in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.
Mizan reported that they were convicted of collaborating with hostile groups, and the Supreme Court upheld their death sentences before they were carried out.
A joint report by the organizations "Iran Human Rights", based in Norway, and "Together Against the Death Penalty", from France, revealed that Iranian authorities carried out at least 1,639 executions during the year 2025, the highest annual total recorded since 1989.
The report indicated that the number of recorded executions last year represents a 68% increase compared to 2024, which saw the execution of 975 death sentences, noting that among those executed were 48 women.
