Bar Association: The Martyrdom of Exiled Prisoner Al-Amour Highlights Again the Policy of Medical Neglect in Occupation Prisons
SadaNews - The Palestinian Bar Association stated in a press release issued this evening that the martyrdom of the exiled former prisoner Riyad Al-Amour to Egypt, resulting from the illnesses he suffered due to years of systematic medical neglect during his imprisonment, highlights again the policy of systematic medical neglect that Palestinian prisoners experience in the occupation's prisons. It reaffirms the necessity for the international community, particularly the contracting parties in the Geneva Conventions and the International Committee of the Red Cross, to bear their legal responsibilities regarding the prohibitive measures taken by the occupying authorities concerning the Red Cross's duties to visit prisoners and observe their living conditions fundamentally.
The association emphasized that the humanitarian principles that unite nations and peoples must compel various international bodies to take on their ethical and legal responsibilities in light of the ongoing suffering and systematic abuse of Palestinian prisoners, considering that silence in the face of these realities undermines the value and objectives of those bodies' establishment.
