Former Justice Minister: The Law on Executing Prisoners Falls Within the System of Policies Legalizing Occupation

SadaNews - Former Justice Minister Ali Abu Diak stated today, Tuesday, that the Israeli Knesset's approval of the law allowing the execution of Palestinian prisoners falls within its system of racist legislative and executive policies, and in the context of a series of revenge, organized terrorism, state terrorism, war crimes, aggression, genocide, and crimes against humanity committed against our Palestinian people.

He confirmed that the Israeli occupation state does not act like a state; rather, it makes its decisions and adopts its legislation outside the framework of the international system, international law, and humanitarian law, having entered a new phase in its quest to legalize its repressive and racist measures and its severe violations of human rights and international laws, conventions, treaties, and agreements.

He added that Israel exploits the shocking international silence and the unlimited support from the American administration, utilizing it as a cover to continue the occupation, violence, and aggression against our people, land, holy places, and legitimate national and human rights, while violating international legitimacy in all its principles, provisions, and institutions. It aims to escalate the situation on the ground, suppress responses, entrench the status quo to accept the occupation and its ongoing daily crimes, and allow the most serious atrocities committed by the occupation and settler gangs to pass without accountability, while stripping our people of the legitimacy of their struggle and steadfastness on their land, undermining the basis of the Palestinian people's right to legitimately defend themselves, their land, and holy places, their right to freedom, an independent state, and self-determination, criminalizing the Palestinian struggle in all its stages and components, and continuing to allow the perpetrators of Israeli crimes to evade punishment and shirk criminal and penal responsibility for the crimes they have committed and continue to commit against our people, land, holy sites, and against our prisoners who languish in the occupation's prisons.

He called upon the United Nations and all its members, institutions, platforms, and specialized agencies to criminalize the occupation and settlement and the bloody, racist legislation adopted by the occupying state, taking serious and deterrent steps to safeguard human rights and ensure the rights of Palestinian prisoners and their families, who are considered victims of the organized terrorism practiced by the occupying state. He urged putting an end to the aggression and crimes of the Israeli occupation and its racist legislation that violate all rules and provisions of international humanitarian law and principles of international legitimacy.

He called on the International Criminal Court to prosecute the Israeli perpetrators of their serious crimes that fall under the jurisdiction of the Court in accordance with the Rome Statute. He emphasized the right of our people to struggle by all legitimate means recognized by international legitimacy to free themselves from occupation and achieve the aspirations, rights, and hopes of our people for freedom, independence, self-determination, and the establishment of their independent Palestinian state with its capital in Jerusalem.
