National Popular Conference for Jerusalem Responds to the Death Penalty Law: Our Prisoners’ Necks are Higher than Their Gallows
SadaNews - The General Secretariat of the National Popular Conference for Jerusalem described the death penalty law for prisoners approved by the Israeli Knesset yesterday as a racist law that constitutes a war crime, adding to the record of a government that has carried out executions unannounced in its prisons against dozens of prisoners who were detained in Sde Teiman prison and others amidst the genocide.
The General Secretariat stated in a statement today, in response to the death penalty law: This law disregards all international resolutions that legitimized the right of the occupied people to resist the occupation by all means until they achieve their freedom and independence, pointing out that with this racist step, Israel has turned against the international community and placed itself among the countries that have carried out executions in their land based on vengeful tendencies.
The General Secretariat emphasized that the prisoners in the occupation's prisons are fighters for freedom, dignity, and their fundamental rights, and they are not criminals as Israel attempts to present them to the world, which has absolutely rejected this bloody law.
The General Secretariat called on international human rights and humanitarian organizations to take urgent action in cooperation with similar Palestinian institutions to initiate legal steps to nullify this decision, which reflects a moral decline in the Israeli legislative body.
It also called for the solidarity of both official and popular Palestinian efforts by organizing a permanent campaign to stand by the prisoners and their families in support during this dangerous historical transformation, which, if implemented, means that Israel is about to commit wholesale massacres against the seekers of freedom and human justice.
The General Secretariat stated in its statement: Our prisoners' necks are higher than the gallows of the occupation, and they will find all the official and popular support for their just struggle and tremendous sacrifices, and they will not be left alone to face their fate. It affirmed that the people of Palestine and their leadership, who have previously thwarted all conspiracies and plans aimed at eliminating their just cause, will undoubtedly be able to thwart this law, which will not see the light if internal and external efforts unite to abort it, stressing that Israel must look at the consequences of approving this law, which would inflame the Palestinian street due to the esteemed status of prisoners among all of our people in the homeland and the diaspora.
