The Gathering Condemns the Law of Executing Palestinian Prisoners: A Racist Legislation Contradicting Basic Human Rights
SadaNews - The National Democratic Gathering condemns the dangerous and fascist step taken by the Knesset on Monday evening by approving the law of executing Palestinian prisoners, which is a racist law that contradicts basic human rights and violates the sanctity of life; according to a statement issued by it.
The Gathering affirmed that "this law constitutes a very dangerous precedent, not only because it targets a specific category based on national and racial grounds, establishing effectively two parallel judicial pathways that reflect an apartheid mentality, but also because it opens the door to practices that contradict the simplest human values and international justice standards and treaties".
It pointed out that "this legislation comes amid rising political incitement and the growing hate speech, led by the far-right coalition. Moreover, the voting of Knesset members associated with the so-called 'Israeli opposition' in favor of this law is an additional indicator of the rampant fascist tendency transforming into what resembles a political consensus transcending the Zionist camps; and the absence of a substantial, principled opposition to the current government agendas (except from the Arab parties)".
The National Democratic Gathering reaffirmed its strong rejection of this law, calling on the international community, human rights institutions, and legal bodies to fulfill their moral and legal responsibilities and to act immediately to pressure for the cessation of this legislation and its implementation.
It also demanded the provision of protection for Palestinian prisoners and the guarantee of their rights according to the provisions of international humanitarian law; as stated in the statement.
