Report: Israel Faces Severe Shortage of Interception Missiles
SadaNews - The American news site "Semafor" revealed, citing American officials, that Israel is suffering from a severe shortage of ballistic missile interception missiles as the war with Iran continues.
The "Semafor" website indicated in an exclusive report that Israel had informed the United States a few days ago of a "significant shortage" in interception missiles, at a time when Israel continues its military operations against Iran and Lebanon amid exchanges of missile and drone strikes.
It is worth noting that the Israeli long-range defense system has come under great pressure due to Iranian attacks, with reports indicating that Iran has started adding cluster munitions to its missiles, which could further deplete the Israeli stockpile.
An American official told Semafor, "We anticipated this shortage and have been monitoring it for several months," adding that the United States is not experiencing a similar shortage in its own interception missiles, which raises widespread concerns about the depletion of the American stockpile if military operations continue for an extended period.
The American official explained: "We have everything we need to protect our bases, personnel, and interests in the region," adding that Israel is "looking for solutions to address the shortage of interception missiles."
Israel has other means to counter Iranian missiles during the war, including fighter jets, but interception missiles remain one of the most effective methods against long-range fire, while the "Iron Dome" system works to intercept short-range attacks.
Israel is seeking solutions to compensate for the shortage of interception missiles during the war, although Washington has ensured in the past the provision of missile defense assets as part of military assistance to Israel.
It is still unclear whether the United States would sell or share part of its interception missiles with Israel, which could affect the domestic stockpile.
