The Election Committee Receives 58 Objections on Lists and Candidates, Accepts Two

SadaNews - The Central Election Commission announced that it received 58 objections on the lists and candidates for the local authorities elections scheduled to be held on Saturday, April 25th.

The committee explained in a statement issued this morning, Thursday, that the objections consisted of 18 objections to the electoral lists, of which only one was accepted, and 40 objections to individual candidates, among which only one was also accepted, while the remaining objections were rejected.

The committee indicated that the classification of the submitted objections showed that most of them were concentrated on several main issues, primarily those related to debts clearance, resignation, and judicial rulings.

The committee noted that it reviews the objections in accordance with the provisions of the law and the established procedural guide, where any objection is accepted or rejected based on the evidence and documents provided by the objector, and in compliance with the applicable legal procedures, and the objectors and those objected against were officially informed of the committee's decision.

It added that those affected by the committee's decision can file an appeal to the Electoral Court for consideration, and the court will decide on all appeals submitted by a maximum of March 29th, in accordance with the legal deadlines established for the electoral process.

The committee is scheduled to publish the final list of names of the lists and candidates who will appear on the ballot papers on March 31st.
