The Jerusalem Awqaf Agency Brings Smiles to 500 Orphaned Children During a Ramadan Iftar in Jerusalem
SadaNews - The Jerusalem Awqaf Agency brought smiles to the faces of 500 orphaned children in the city of Jerusalem during a collective Ramadan Iftar organized for them and their families yesterday in Jerusalem, in a humanitarian initiative that restored joy and a sense of family warmth to the little ones during the holy month, despite the difficult ground conditions the city is experiencing.
After the Iftar, the children enjoyed various entertainment segments and artistic performances that brought joy to their hearts, as their laughter filled the air while they watched entertaining segments and interactive games, adding an atmosphere of fun and happiness to the gathering.
The joy of the orphaned children was complete when the agency distributed Eid al-Fitr clothing to them, in an initiative aimed at bringing happiness to their spirits and sharing the joy of the holiday with them, as part of its annual social assistance campaign, coinciding with this year's holy month of Ramadan.
The organization of the Iftar is part of the Ramadan charitable campaign that the agency has resumed in Jerusalem and its suburbs, despite the difficult security and economic conditions the families are living through, in light of the repercussions of the Israeli-American war on Iran, and the accompanying tensions that directly affect the daily lives of Jerusalemites.
In an atmosphere filled with familial warmth, the children sat at the Iftar tables with their families, in a gathering that combined the spirit of social solidarity and human emotions, while the organizers of the event were keen to provide a complete entertainment program that added a celebratory character to the evening for the children.
Al-Quds resident Mena Allah Al-Sharif expressed her gratitude to those organizing the annual Ramadan Iftar, praising the role of the Jerusalem Awqaf Agency in caring for children and attending to their psychological and social needs. She stated that the agency is keen, through these events, to bring joy to children's hearts through entertaining segments and bringing in clowns, which adds an atmosphere of happiness to the occasion.
She added that the Ramadan Iftar was characterized by a beautiful and cheerful atmosphere, expressing her gratitude to those responsible for this humanitarian initiative, which reflects a genuine concern for children and their feelings.
For his part, Elias Abu Sunna from the town of Silwan in Jerusalem expressed his thanks to the Jerusalem Awqaf Agency for organizing this Ramadan Iftar, stressing that such initiatives carry an important message of human solidarity amidst the difficult circumstances the city is experiencing.
He explained that these activities contribute to easing the living burdens on Jerusalem families, as well as providing children with moments of joy amidst a reality that grows increasingly difficult day by day.
The director in charge of the Jerusalem Awqaf Agency had launched, during a field visit to Jerusalem last month, a set of social, health, and economic initiatives coinciding with the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan in the year 1447 AH, as part of the agency's efforts to alleviate the impact of the difficult economic conditions faced by Jerusalem families.
These initiatives included the launch of the annual social assistance campaign from the villages of Nabi Samuel and Al-Jadira in the northwest of Jerusalem, which included the distribution of five thousand food parcels containing twenty-two types of essential goods for needy families in Jerusalem and its surrounding villages.
The agency also provided the necessary supplies for the charitable institutions and social centers to prepare about twenty thousand Iftar meals daily throughout the month of Ramadan, in addition to distributing Eid al-Fitr clothing to the orphans it sponsors and organizing religious and cultural evenings and training programs.
In the health sector, the agency organized free medical days targeting Bedouin communities in the Khan al-Ahmar, Jahalin, and Muntar areas, along with several towns and villages surrounding the city of Jerusalem, where these days included providing laboratory tests through a mobile laboratory, in addition to general medicine, pediatrics, and ophthalmology services.
On the economic front, the agency launched a training program to enhance the skills of Jerusalem traders in professional competencies related to importing and exporting, in addition to organizing a week for training in traditional Moroccan crafts with the participation of Moroccan craftsmen specializing in fields such as textiles, wood carving, and the crafting of copper and silver, benefiting 38 trainees from Jerusalem artisans and youth.
The resumption of the Ramadan charitable campaign in Jerusalem holds particular significance amidst the security, economic, and social pressures faced by Palestinians in the city, whether due to the repercussions of the Israeli-American war on Iran or because of the Israeli policies imposed on Jerusalem and its inhabitants.
