Khaled Awda Killed in Shooting Incident in Rina
SadaNews - A man was killed in a shooting incident in the village of Rina in the northern Galilee region, this Thursday morning, bringing the death toll in the Arab community since the beginning of the year to 55 deceased.
According to preliminary information circulating, Khaled Awda (60 years old) was killed this morning after opening his business, where he was shot, leading to his death on the spot.
It has been reported that the victim is the father of one of the suspects in the murder of the boy Azmi Gharib (16 years old) from Nazareth.
A burned car was found in an open area near Rina, and it is suspected that it was used in the shooting incident that took place in the town.
For its part, the occupation police claimed that they had opened a case "to investigate the shooting incident that took place in the town of Rina, resulting in one person being seriously injured," according to medical sources. They added that their forces are conducting search operations in the area for suspects, indicating that the background is criminal.
55 Arab Fatalities Since the Beginning of the Year... and 7 Victims Since the Beginning of Ramadan
With this crime, the death toll from murder in the Arab community since the beginning of this year has risen to 55, including 29 since the beginning of this month, and 7 since the beginning of Ramadan, while January recorded 26 deaths.
Among the victims, 4 people were killed by police gunfire, three women, and two boys under the age of 18.
The Arab community is witnessing near-daily protests condemning the rise in crime and accusing the Israeli authorities and police of failure to combat it. The spark of the movements started in Sakhnin with a general strike, followed by protest actions in several Arab towns, in addition to two nationwide demonstrations in Sakhnin and Tel Aviv, along with a convoy of cars that set off from Arab towns towards Jerusalem.
It is worth noting that 2025 recorded an unprecedented death toll in murders, reaching 252 Arab fatalities, amidst ongoing accusations of the Israeli police's failure to provide security and safety for Arab citizens.
