The victims of the double crime in Umm al-Fahm are engineer Ahmad Fares Abu Ghazala (46 years old) and his son Abdul Qadir Abu Ghazala (22 years old), who was a nurse, and they were on their way to work.

According to local sources, the car the two victims were in overturned several times in the Ara'ash neighborhood of Umm al-Fahm. Initial information indicates that a vehicle suspected to have been used in the murder that took place in the city was burned.

In the city of Tamra, the Al-Zahra Medical Center reported that its crew dealt with a wounded person in critical condition due to a gunshot wound to the head, before later announcing his death after attempts to resuscitate him failed.

The victim of the murder in Tamra today is Jamil Mahmoud Jamil Dhiab, in his thirties.

This is the second crime committed in the city within days, after the murder of Wafa Tawfiq Awad when assailants fired gunshots at her home while she was inside last Thursday.

Regarding the double murder in Umm al-Fahm, a spokesperson for the "Magen David Adom" service reported that "at precisely 8:56 AM, a report was received at the 101 information center in the Gilboa area about two injured individuals in the city of Umm al-Fahm."

He added that "the ambulance crews that arrived found two men who had sustained fatal injuries. After conducting the necessary medical examinations, they were declared dead at the scene of the incident."

Paramedic Suhayb Muhajir said: "When we arrived at the scene, we found two individuals unconscious, without a pulse, suffering from fatal injuries to their bodies. We performed the necessary medical examinations, but unfortunately, we had no choice but to declare them dead at the scene."

The Municipality of Umm al-Fahm: An emergency session for the municipal council and the popular committee and the national emergency committee following the double murder

The Municipality of Umm al-Fahm announced in a statement issued today that it will hold an emergency session on Monday evening, with the participation of members of the municipal council, the popular committee, and the national emergency committee, following the murder that took place this morning, which claimed the lives of father Ahmad Fares Abu Ghazala and his son Abdul Qadir.

The municipality expressed its deep anger and condemnation of the crime, describing it as a "criminal act that has no connection to any human, moral, or religious value," emphasizing that "its severity multiplies as the blessed month of Ramadan approaches, during which sanctities are protected, and the value of human life is elevated."

The municipality confirmed that "this crime, like its predecessors, occurs amid what it described as a state of security chaos," holding the government and police "responsible for the continuation of the cycle of violence and crime in the Arab community in general, and in Umm al-Fahm in particular," considering that "failure to fulfill duties opens the way for criminals to act without deterrence."

The municipality stressed that "the blood of our children is not forfeit," and that "the city will not accept turning into an open arena for violence," affirming that "the emergency session will discuss ways to take practical steps to confront the scourge of crime and ensure the safety of residents."

The Popular Committee in Umm al-Fahm: A double crime shakes the city and a call for a protest

The Popular Committee in Umm al-Fahm issued a statement today in the wake of the double crime that occurred in the city, emphasizing that what is happening "is not a fleeting event, but a continuous bleeding that strikes the community at its core."

The statement indicated that the committee "is not in the position of condemnation and denunciation," but declares loudly: "Either we live in dignity and security, or we continue to wait for our turn on the list of victims."

It pointed out that "murder has become a daily reality, and the rampant weapons threaten every home and family," stressing that "settling for statements is no longer acceptable and silence is no longer an option."

The committee added that "the continuation of this situation means that danger is knocking on everyone’s doors without exception," calling for "turning anger into a clear and pressing stance to stop the bleeding of blood."

Accordingly, the popular committee called on residents to participate in a protest to be held today at 4:30 PM at the first roundabout, affirming that "the blood of our children is a red line." It also emphasized that its actions will not stop at this protest and that tomorrow will see additional escalation until the security that the city's children deserve is achieved.

The double murder in Umm al-Fahm today comes in the context of an unprecedented surge of murders and shootings in the Arab community, where Arab towns are witnessing an accelerating pace of violence associated with unlicensed firearms, criminal disputes, and the lack of adequate deterrence. These crimes have resulted in dozens of victims since the beginning of the year, including women, young people, and innocent individuals unrelated to any disputes.

Observers attribute the exacerbation of the phenomenon to the proliferation of firearms, the growing influence of criminal organizations, as well as the authorities' failure to take effective steps to collect weapons and pursue perpetrators.

Meanwhile, popular and leadership voices are rising, demanding a comprehensive and urgent plan to stop the bleeding of blood, enhance the feeling of personal security, and protect civilians from the ongoing cycle of violence.

48 Arab fatalities since the beginning of the year

With this crime, the death toll in the Arab community has risen to 48 since the beginning of the year until today, including 22 since the beginning of this month, and 26 fatalities during last January. Among the victims is one person shot by police, three women, and two youth under the age of 18.

The Arab community witnesses daily protests against the rampant crime and condemning the complicity of the authorities and the Israeli police, which started in Sakhnin with a strike, then followed by other Arab towns, and later two national demonstrations organized in the city and Tel Aviv, along with a convoy of cars that started from the Arab towns reaching Jerusalem, in addition to protest vigils and demonstrations in various towns and intersections.

The year 2025 recorded an unprecedented toll in murder cases, claiming the lives of 252 Arabs, amid accusations of the Israeli police's negligence and complicity with organized crime, and its failure to provide security and safety for Arab citizens.
