The Central Elections Commission Begins Training Its Field Teams in Preparation for the Candidacy Phase of Local Elections
SadaNews - The Central Elections Commission has begun today, Thursday, implementing an intensive training program for its field teams, in preparation for the commencement of the candidacy phase for the local elections scheduled to take place from February 23 to March 1.
The training kicked off at the Commission's headquarters in the city of Al-Bireh, and the program will continue according to a timetable extending over several days, concluding next Tuesday, targeting the Commission's teams in various electoral districts in the West Bank.
The training aims to enhance the readiness of the teams responsible for receiving candidacy applications and dealing with the public, and to improve their efficiency in handling the files attached to the applications and responding to candidates' inquiries, ensuring that procedures are implemented in accordance with legal standards and approved guidelines. The program also includes mechanisms for the preliminary review of applications and verifying that they meet all legal conditions and requirements before being submitted to the Central Elections Commission for official approval.
The Commission had previously announced the launch of a public awareness campaign regarding the candidacy procedures, in light of recent legal amendments, which involve a difference in the candidacy mechanism between village councils, where individual candidacy is allowed, and municipal councils where candidacy is through electoral lists. The campaign aims to inform aspiring candidates about the legal conditions and requirements, and to clarify the necessary procedural steps to submit applications correctly.
These steps are part of the Commission's ongoing preparations to manage the candidacy phase efficiently and professionally, paving the way for the completion of the remaining stages of the electoral process according to the approved timetable.
