The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in partnership with the Governorate and the Hebron Reconstruction Committee, organizes a field tour for the diplomatic corps to the city of Hebron and the Ibrahimi Mosque
SadaNews - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, in partnership with the Governorate of Hebron, the Hebron Reconstruction Committee, and the Minister of Culture, and in the presence of His Excellency Governor Khalid Dudin, Minister of Culture Imad Hamdan, and heads of institutions and security agencies, held a field tour for the diplomatic corps accredited in the State of Palestine to the city of Hebron to observe the violations to which the Ibrahimi Mosque and the Old Town of Hebron are subjected.
Ambassador Dr. Omar Awadallah, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, welcomed the ambassadors and representatives of countries and international organizations, and pointed out the violations faced by the city of Hebron and the holy Ibrahimi Mosque, as a reflection of the Israeli violations in the territory of the State of Palestine, in the Gaza Strip, and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and what it faces from settlement crimes, settler terrorism, and the extension of the genocide perpetrated in the Gaza Strip, and the besiegement of cities with checkpoints.
Ambassador Dr. Awadallah called for the necessity of providing immediate, effective, and sustainable international protection for Palestinian civilians and for the cultural heritage in the city of Hebron, including stopping settler attacks and ending the occupation measures that restrict freedom of worship, movement, and daily life in the Old Town and around the Ibrahimi Mosque. He also urged the diplomatic delegation to take practical steps to condemn these illegal violations and to demand that Israel, as the occupying power, immediately cease all its contradictory procedures and practices, annul the unlawful decisions, respect the historical and legal status quo of the Ibrahimi Mosque, and fully commit to its obligations under international law, including the protection of Palestinian World Heritage sites.
His Excellency Governor Khalid Dudin welcomed the guests and briefed them on the violations faced by the city.
His Excellency Minister of Culture, Head of the Hebron Reconstruction Committee, Imad Hamdan, reviewed the escalating Israeli violations against the city of Hebron and particularly the Ibrahimi Mosque, including internal division, changing landmarks, revoking licenses, and building a roof over the mosque.
At the end, the delegation conducted a field tour of the Old Town and the holy Ibrahimi Mosque.
