The Central Occupation Court in Lod Convicts a Young Man of Murdering Irfan Al-Wuhwah Under Aggravated Circumstances
SadaNews - The Central Occupation Court in Lod convicted Ayman Masrati of intentional murder under aggravated circumstances for the late Irfan Al-Wuhwah, in a crime that occurred in the city in August 2022, despite the evidence that the accused did not directly fire the weapon.
The Public Prosecution stated, following the issuance of the conviction on Sunday, that "the ruling reflects the commitment of law enforcement agencies to combat murder and serious violence crimes, especially those perpetrated due to ongoing conflicts within the Arab community," emphasizing that "criminal responsibility is not limited to the direct perpetrator but extends to all those who were essential partners in planning and execution."
After listening to the evidence and discussing it, the court convicted the defendant of all charges listed in the indictment, which include: "premeditated murder with aggravating circumstances, possession of a weapon, conspiracy to commit a crime, destruction of evidence, and obstruction of justice," all in partnership with others.
According to the court record, "the crime was executed in broad daylight in the heart of Lod, where two individuals shot the deceased from close range. It was established that the accused was a full partner in carrying out the crime with others, against the backdrop of an ongoing bloody feud between the Masrati-Jarouchi and Al-Wuhwah families."
The evidence indicated that "the accused and his partners pre-planned the crime, equipped themselves with stolen vehicles and forged license plates, mobile phones, and firearms, and monitored the victim's movements from his workplace until he reached the vicinity of his home, where the killing took place. After the crime, one of the vehicles was burned, and the conspirators fled the scene, while the accused's vehicle was later hidden in Tel Aviv."
The court fully accepted the Public Prosecution's position and concluded that "the accused played a fundamental role in the stages of preparation, surveillance, and execution, despite not having fired the weapon himself, and rejected the defense's claims," considering that "the entirety of the evidence leads to one conclusion: convicting the accused."
Under the law, the prescribed penalty for murder under aggravated circumstances is mandatory life imprisonment.
