The Qatari Committee Welcomes the Preliminary Agreement to Restructure the Joint List and Calls for Its Swift Completion

SadaNews - The Qatari Committee for Arab Local Authorities, through its sub-committee (the Seven-Committee), has warmly welcomed the preliminary agreement that was signed, in its broad outlines, last Thursday evening in the city of Sakhnin, among the leaders of Arab political parties and movements, regarding the importance and necessity of participating in the Knesset elections within a unified framework by restructuring the Joint List.

The committee clarified that this agreement comes despite some variances and differences among the parties, yet it aims to serve the higher and collective interests of the Palestinian Arab public in the country, especially in light of the sensitive phase it is going through, which is characterized by a serious qualitative escalation in facing crime and violence in the Arab community, in all its manifestations, including the phenomenon of protection money (extortion), alongside various other existential challenges.

The committee added that it views this agreement positively and with great appreciation, considering it a qualitative and strategic step in the path of enhancing national unity among the Arab public, at various levels and fields, which would contribute both quantitatively and qualitatively to motivating the Arab public, across different segments and institutions, to confront serious existential challenges, foremost among them being the systematic official policies represented in the demolition of Arab homes and displacement, as well as discrimination, persecution, racism, and fascism, in addition to infringing on legitimate and natural rights.

Despite the wide positive echo that the agreement has received at both the popular and political levels, the Qatari committee called for completing its details as soon as possible, emphasizing that the current circumstances do not allow for delays in completing it in its final form, and then embracing, supporting, and translating it into practical steps on the ground.

The committee concluded by affirming that it will soon initiate practical steps and measures in this direction, aiming to support this unifying path, as it is both a goal and a means simultaneously, to enhance the overall political representation and influence of the Arab public in the country.
