The Follow-Up Committee Approves a Series of Steps: The Great Black Flags March in Tel Aviv in Protest Against the Escalation of Crime

SadaNews - On Saturday, the Higher Follow-Up Committee for Arab Citizens held a meeting in the city of Sakhnin, attended by the Secretariat of the Follow-Up Committee and the National Committee of Arab Local Authority Heads, dedicated to discussing ways to confront the escalation of crime, violence, and extortion in Arab society.

The meeting concluded, after an extensive discussion involving dozens of activists, with a set of decisions, the most prominent of which is organizing a major black flags march in Tel Aviv, preceded by demonstrations and protest stands in various Arab towns.

The following was decided:

First: Organizing a large black flags march in Tel Aviv with broad community participation, in protest against the escalation of crime and violence, and placing this issue at the forefront of public attention.

Second: Preparing for the march by organizing demonstrations and protest stands in all Arab towns and villages, leading to central public activities on Fridays.

Third: Calling upon all parties, local authorities, popular committees, and active civil associations to launch a wide media campaign to enlist broader community participation.

Fourth: Confirming that what is happening in our community necessitates declaring a state of emergency and forming a standing emergency committee to follow up on organizing local and national activities to combat crime, violence, and extortion.

Fifth: Starting to prepare a rising action program that includes graduated protest steps, including a general strike for several days, organizing the work of popular committees, and mobilizing various community segments to play their role, alongside ongoing national and local demonstrations.

Sixth: Beginning to collect donations to finance activism aimed at combating crime, violence, and extortion.

In concluding its statement, the Higher Follow-Up Committee affirmed that "this movement is a continuous struggle, based on the unity of our community and its collective will to protect its children, preserve its dignity, and guarantee its right to security and safety".

Dr. Jamal Zahalka, the head of the Follow-Up Committee, stated: Together we move forward in escalating the struggle… together we will crush this scourge.
