The Israeli Army Reveals Data for 2025 in the West Bank
Translation by SadaNews - The so-called Israeli army command in the West Bank revealed on Monday data related to Palestinian and Israeli attacks in 2025.
The data shows, as translated by SadaNews, that approximately 870 incidents of assault by settlers against Palestinians were recorded during the year, an increase of 27% compared to 2024.
This represents a decrease from the period between 2022 and 2023, where more than 1,000 incidents were recorded; however, 2025 saw a noticeable increase in serious incidents, numbering around 120, which included the burning of Palestinian homes and vehicles or severe physical violence by extremist settlers.
According to the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, these incidents have increased due to the support and funding received by these settlers from entities within the government and coalition, in addition to an order from Defense Minister Israel Katz to cancel administrative arrest warrants against suspects, despite opposition from the Israeli Security Agency (Shabak) and reservations from the Israeli army.
The Israeli army reported a decrease in the number of Palestinian martyrs by about 42%, from around 500 martyrs during 2024 to 240 last year.
The Israeli army attributes this decline to a reduction in fear from those it describes as "terrorists" to confront its forces, which still control the camps of Tulkarm and Jenin.
The data indicates an overall decrease in Palestinian attacks in the West Bank by 78%, and a 17% decline in "popular attacks," which include stone-throwing and Molotov cocktail incidents; this is attributed to an amendment to an order from the central command allowing soldiers to shoot with the intent to kill any suspect who throws stones on highways, although recent months have seen an increase in the number of these incidents, according to the data mentioned and translated by SadaNews.
In 2025, about 3,500 Palestinian suspects were arrested, a 25% increase compared to 2024; in addition, more than 1,370 weapons were seized, and 17 million shekels were confiscated from "terrorism" funds according to its description.
The Israeli army also confiscated more than 8 tons of dual-use materials in the West Bank last year, which can also be used in the manufacture of explosive devices.
Fifteen Israelis were killed in Palestinian attacks originating from the West Bank last year, seven of whom were soldiers, while in 2024, 35 Israelis were killed in attacks that originated from the West Bank.
Despite the positive data and a background of stability, albeit temporarily, in areas like Gaza and Lebanon, the central command of the Israeli army speaks in terms of preparedness for the "war of tomorrow," due to fears that armed factions and countries like Iran may encourage outbreaks of violence in the West Bank, which has managed to maintain relative calm even during the most turbulent years in the sector, warning of a repeat of the October 7 scenario originating from the West Bank.
The Israeli army controlled about ten kilometers of roads in refugee camps it occupied in the West Bank, destroying dozens of homes there, and intends to remain in the camps permanently, without the expelled residents, until new residential neighborhoods are established that do not describe them as refugee camps.
The Israeli army described the situation stating: "We destroyed 25 buildings in the Nur Shams camp near Tulkarm, and during the operation, we recently found more bomb-making laboratories and weapon depots, despite almost a year having passed since the camp's cleansing."
Regarding Palestinian workers sneaking into Israel, estimates suggest there are about 70,000 of them. The army recommends increasing job opportunities available to Palestinians on both sides of the Green Line after the political leadership rejected security institution recommendations to restore work permits for tens of thousands of legal workers following the war.
The Israeli army provided data showing the unemployment rate in the West Bank increased from 13% in October, on the eve of October 7, to about 35% last year.
The Israeli army command in the West Bank recommended expanding its control over the Jordanian borders, aiming to focus efforts under a single leadership on the eastern border, currently divided between the central (West Bank) and southern commands, where Gaza is the main area for both, while the Sinai border is secondary, and it is expected that the central command will take over another part of the Jordanian border next year.
