Negev: Agreement Reached to End School Strike in Villages Under the Desert Oasis Council
SadaNews - An meeting took place yesterday evening, Saturday, in the village of Wadi al-Naim in the Negev, between the Parents' Committee and the head of the Desert Oasis Council, Salama Abu Adisan, with the participation of the General Director of the Regional Council for Unrecognized Villages, Suleiman Al-Hawashla. During the meeting, it was decided to cancel the strike in the schools of the villages under the Desert Oasis Council.
The head of the Desert Oasis Council informed those present during the meeting about reaching an agreement with the Ministry of Education, which commits the latter to transfer the required budget to support educational institutions in the unrecognized villages.
He also confirmed that the renovation works for the schools will commence starting Sunday, with direct participation and follow-up from the Parents' Committees.
Following this, the Parents' Committees decided to end the strike, and it was also decided that the committees themselves would serve as an educational forum to monitor the conditions of education and ensure its improvement in the unrecognized villages, according to a statement from the Parents' Committees in the villages under the Desert Oasis Council.
