Trump's Signing to Withdraw from International Organizations Aligns with the Occupation Government's Position on Undermining International Humanitarian Work
SadaNews - The Palestinian network of civil society organizations affirms its rejection of the American policies and positions that represent an extension of the same trend that confirms the blatant bias of this American administration towards the occupying state. This has become clear and more blatant with the beginning of the occupation's crime of genocide against the Palestinian people in early October 2023, politically and internationally covering up the crimes of occupation, supplying the occupying government with weapons and funds, and providing all forms of support to continue these crimes.
The network sees in U.S. President Donald Trump's decision on "Wednesday" to withdraw from 36 international institutions and 31 international frameworks and entities operating in all fields, under flimsy justifications and excuses including their contradiction with (U.S. policies) according to those claims, at a time when all these institutions operate legally in areas related to climate, international governance, and economic and social issues through clear work programs. The network views this as an extension of the same hostile position announced by the occupying state targeting international institutions operating in the Palestinian territories just days ago and refusing to renew their work permits. This is a (trial) against them for their positions regarding the genocide and destruction that the occupying state continues in the occupied Palestinian territories.
This American announcement comes as a new blow to the work of international institutions after targeting the Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and the United States' withdrawal from UNESCO, the climate agreement, and the World Health Organization, from which Trump announced his intention to withdraw as part of clear plans aimed at changing the rules of the UN and its institutions in favor of a unipolar world led by the United States, which serves its interests and continues its dominance over the resources and capabilities of nations. What happened days ago in Venezuela is a good example of the brutal force's use to overthrow regimes that oppose the United States and subjugate nations by force and rob them of their inherent right to self-determination and to elect their representatives.
In this context, the network calls for the formation of a broad international front that includes international institutions and social and civil movements to declare a clear position rejecting the measures taken by the United States and to undertake extensive movements to thwart the American approach aimed at punishing the institutions that stood with the Palestinian people in rejection of the genocide war and to make them pay the price for their stance by not allowing their work and restricting them in preparation for their dissolution. The network will work with partners and friends to monitor these measures and steps to be taken, including the legal path, pressure campaigns, and international advocacy aimed at failing these decisions.
The network calls for tangible reforms to the UN system, including the abolition of the veto power of permanent member states in the Security Council, which has been misused by the United States and its allies to disrupt the role of the Security Council and protect criminals, foremost among them the Israeli occupying state.
