The Election Commission Launches Awareness and Education Campaign for the 2026 Local Elections Registration Phase
SadaNews - The Central Election Commission launched today, Wednesday, an awareness and education campaign for the voter registration phase, considering it the first step in the electoral process, according to the approved timeline for the 2026 local authority elections, with registration continuing until January 24.
The commission explained in a press statement that the campaign focuses on diversifying awareness channels to ensure reaching citizens in all governorates of the West Bank, especially the youth, by intensifying broadcasts through the commission's official social media platforms, alongside activating 11 sub-pages on Facebook that cover all electoral districts, ensuring the specificity of the media message for each area.
It added that the campaign includes benefiting from the strategic partnership between the commission and civil society institutions to organize a series of workshops and public meetings aimed at explaining the specifics of the new election law and clarifying the registration procedures, as a prerequisite for participation in elections both as candidates and voters. The campaign also involves field teams in Palestinian universities to encourage students to register.
The awareness campaign for the registration phase also includes broadcasting awareness messages via billboards and through local media, radios, and televisions, ensuring outreach to various community segments and motivating them to participate in the electoral process.
The commission called on unregistered citizens to take advantage of the current registration period, clarifying that registration is open for citizens who have not registered before through its website (elections.ps), while changes and modifications to previous registrations can be made if needed during the period from January 20 to 24, at the registration centers that will be opened in all local authorities, in addition to offices of the electoral districts in various governorates.
