SadaNews - A 49-year-old man and his 20-year-old son from Yafa an-Nasra were killed in a double murder as a result of gunfire in the Karam neighborhood of Nazareth on Saturday evening; bringing the death toll in the Arab community since the beginning of the year to 247 fatalities.
It was reported that the victims were Khaled and Mujad Badir Mahajna, originally from Umm al-Fahm, who moved years ago to live in Yafa an-Nasra.
A medical team from "Magen David Adom" arrived at the crime scene, and had no choice but to declare the two victims dead due to their injuries, which were sustained from gunfire to the upper parts of their bodies.
Paramedic Anas Awawda stated, "We saw two victims who were unconscious and had injuries that penetrated their bodies; we conducted medical examinations but we were forced to declare their deaths on the spot."
In the city of Taybeh in the southern Triangle area, a 31-year-old man was injured with medium-level wounds due to a shooting incident.
The injured person was transported after receiving initial treatments to "Meir" Hospital in Kfar Saba for further treatment.
247 Arab Victims Since the Beginning of the Year
With this double murder, the death toll in the Arab community has risen to 247 since the beginning of the current year, amidst a continuously escalating and dangerous wave of crimes, including organized crime.
Data indicates that 205 people have been killed by gunfire, while 122 of the victims were under the age of thirty, including seven who had not reached the age of 18, and 23 women. Furthermore, there were 13 reported cases of killings by police gunfire.
These shocking figures reflect the extent of the crime escalation in the Arab community, in light of the collusion and inaction of the police and relevant government bodies in performing their role in combating crime and ensuring safety and security for Arab citizens.
