Egypt decides to dispose of the regasification ship docked at Aqaba port in Jordan after renting it for 6 months
SadaNews - Egypt has decided to dispose of the regasification ship docked at Aqaba port in Jordan after renting it for six months, given the lack of need for it as natural gas imports from Tel Aviv have stabilized, according to a government official who spoke to "Asharq" on condition of anonymity.
The ship "Energius Force" (which receives liquefied gas shipments and converts them to their gaseous state) will leave Aqaba port in December, having received about four shipments of liquefied gas for Egypt with a total capacity of around 14 billion cubic feet of gas since its arrival at the port in August until now.

The official stated that Egypt is currently relying on receiving its liquefied gas imports through the four ships currently docked at Ain Sokhna port and the "United Gas" dock in Damietta, with a total capacity of about 2.7 billion cubic feet per day. He added that this comes as part of an integrated system aimed at ensuring gas supplies for the local market and vital sectors, especially electricity and industry, particularly during peak consumption periods, while considering diversifying the inputs of the national grid.
Importing liquefied gas
Egypt is seeking to import about 48 shipments of liquefied gas during the last quarter of this year at a cost of about $2.7 billion, and the shipments will be received through regasification ships to meet the country's natural gas needs, according to previous statements by a government official who spoke to "Asharq".
The Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company "EGAS" has agreed to receive 15 liquefied gas shipments during November, compared to 18 shipments in October, due to the reduced needs of power plants for natural gas as a result of declining temperatures.

Egypt's daily natural gas needs have decreased to about 6.2 billion cubic feet per day, compared to about 7 billion cubic feet per day during the previous period, with local daily production reaching about 4.2 billion cubic feet.
With the noticeable decline in Egypt's natural gas production, the country has again turned to importing liquefied gas starting last year, after halting since 2018 supported by new gas discoveries at that time, led by the Zohr field.
