Report: The Occupation Practices a Policy of Slow Death Against the Prisoner Jamal Abu Heija
SadaNews - The Office of Prisoners' Media confirmed that the occupation's continued isolation of the prisoner leader Jamal Abu Heija (66 years old), despite his deteriorating health, reflects a clear retaliatory policy aimed at a slow liquidation of the symbols of the prisoner movement.
The office explained that the occupation refuses to release Abu Heija in all exchange deals and has continued to detain him since August 28, 2002, as he serves a life sentence multiplied by 9 times in addition to an additional 20 years.
The statement emphasized holding the occupation fully responsible for the life of leader Abu Heija, considering that the harsh measures imposed on him despite his aging and declining health represent a completed crime of slow death, and constitute a blatant violation of the Geneva Conventions, which impose special protection for sick and elderly prisoners.
The Office of Prisoners' Media called on international human rights and humanitarian organizations to urgently intervene and pressure for the release of Abu Heija, and to work towards ending the suffering of sick prisoners and providing them with legal and humanitarian protection inside prisons.
