Occupation Forces Force 3 Families to Evacuate Their Homes in Silwan in Preparation for Seizure
SadaNews - Israeli occupation forces forced three families in the town of Silwan, south of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem, to evacuate their homes today, Sunday, under duress; in preparation for seizing them.
The Jerusalem Governorate reported that a force from the occupation police raided the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood, closed the road leading to the neighborhood, and heavily deployed in the area, in preparation to implement the decision to evacuate three homes belonging to the Shweiki and Awda families. The decision includes the home of the Jerusalemite Asmahan Shweiki, her son Ahmad's home, and the home of Jumaa Awda, all for the benefit of settlement associations.
Following the raid by the occupation police and settlers into the home of Asmahan Shweiki, her health deteriorated, and she fainted due to being forcibly removed to empty the house's contents. She was transferred to the hospital.
Ahmad Shweiki, whose home was evacuated, stated: "We have an evacuation order from the occupation authorities until October 19 last, claiming that the land belongs to them. However, the family lawyer extended the deadline to November 30, but we were surprised today by the occupation police invading the house and completely emptying its contents."
Shweiki clarified that the occupation police assaulted him brutally, causing various injuries and contusions.
The governorate confirmed that these settlement decisions are used as a tool for forced displacement and seizure of homes belonging to Jerusalemites in the neighborhood for the benefit of the "Atarot Kohanim" organization, which claims that about five dunams and 200 square meters of land in the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood belong to Jews coming from Yemen since 1881.
Currently, around 750 residents from 87 Jerusalemite families live in the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood, all of whom are facing evacuation decisions and notices in the courts of the occupation, as part of a systematic Judaization plan overseen by settlement associations with direct support from the occupation government, aimed at forcibly displacing the Jerusalemites and expanding settlement outposts in the heart of Silwan, south of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
