Police Launches Crime Prevention Campaign Under the Patronage of the Prime Minister
SadaNews - General Directorate of Police - Today, Monday, the police launched the activities of the crime prevention campaign at a grand ceremony held at the Ramallah Cultural Center, under the patronage of Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa, in the presence of Major General Ziyad Hab al-Reeh, representing the Prime Minister, Police Director Major General Alam al-Saqa, several ministers, security leaders, representatives of local community institutions and universities, and a large audience.
In his speech, Major General Hab al-Reeh conveyed the greetings of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa to the audience, emphasizing the importance of this campaign aimed at strengthening the rule of law, combating crime in all its forms, and maintaining public security and order. He noted that the State of Palestine constantly strives to protect the Palestinian citizen and uphold their dignity, praising the efforts of the police in fulfilling its duties and services to our people, and wishing it continued success in executing its tasks and enhancing citizen trust in its security apparatus.
For his part, Major General Alam al-Saqa affirmed that the police carry out their duties with professionalism and competence to serve citizens, despite the exceptional circumstances under which they operate, indicating that the police continually strives to improve its services, uphold the rights and dignity of citizens, and ensure security and stability in all governorates.
He explained that combating crime is a collective responsibility that requires the concerted efforts of all community components, emphasizing that this campaign is part of a series of awareness campaigns launched by the police aimed at raising public awareness about the dangers of crime and prevention mechanisms.
Major General al-Saqa also mentioned the establishment of the "Community Police and Media Department," which aims to enhance community partnership and expand cooperation with various segments of society, and that the police continues its efforts to combat crime in all its forms, confirming that these steps come under the directives of President Mahmoud Abbas, Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa, and Interior Minister Major General Ziyad Hab al-Reeh.
For his part, Minister of Justice Advisor Sharhabil al-Zaeem praised the efforts of the police and its role in addressing crime and its perpetrators, asserting that this campaign is part of the justice system and the enhancement of the rule of law, ensuring the protection of citizens' rights and dignity.
Also, the Public Prosecutor Advisor Akram al-Khateeb emphasized the importance of community awareness as the first line of defense against crime, praising the professional measures taken by the police in handling cases and crimes, especially newly emerged crimes such as electronic extortion and financial and digital crimes, contributing to the protection of youth and the Palestinian community from their dangers.
Furthermore, Governor of the Palestine Monetary Authority Mr. Yahya al-Shanar noted that this campaign represents a message of hope and action, affirming the close link between security and the economy, stating that economic security forms a fundamental pillar for financial stability and development, and protecting citizens' rights, commending the existing cooperation between the Monetary Authority and the police in combating economic, financial, and cyber crimes.
The campaign is supervised on the ground in all governorates by the General Investigations Department and the Community Police and Media Department of the police.
It is noteworthy that the ceremony witnessed wide attendance from ministers, security leaders, representatives of civil and community institutions, mayors, local council heads, university students, a large number of notable figures, and the public. Alongside the central launch of the campaign, it will also be initiated in all governorates and will continue for a full month during which numerous awareness and media materials and community meetings with all sectors will be published.
