The Jerusalem Affairs Department of the PLO warns of the danger of the occupation's measures in Jerusalem
SadaNews - The Jerusalem Affairs Department of the Palestine Liberation Organization warned of the serious restrictions and intensifications imposed by Israeli occupation forces at the gates of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, coinciding with mass incursions carried out by hundreds of settlers.
The department stated in a statement issued today, Wednesday, that these incursions represent a systematic escalation aimed at reshaping the scene in the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound to serve the project of the occupation government’s settlement policy.
It added that the occupation no longer treats the incursions as isolated incidents, but rather attempts to impose them as a new equation that reduces the Islamic presence while expanding the colonial presence, in an effort to impose temporal and spatial division of Al-Aqsa similar to what occurred in the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron.
The department considered that closing the doors to worshippers while opening the squares to settlers embodies a policy of religious racial discrimination that threatens to ignite a religious conflict that extends beyond the borders of Jerusalem to the entire region. It affirmed that these practices intersect with major settlement projects around the city and form part of a comprehensive Judaization process aimed at undermining the two-state solution.
It emphasized that increasing international recognition of the State of Palestine serves as a practical response to the occupation's attempts to impose settlement sovereignty over Jerusalem and its holy sites, reflecting a growing global conviction of the illegitimacy of these violations. It stressed that protecting Al-Aqsa and Jerusalem is a fundamental pillar in affirming the Palestinian people's right to their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
