Interior Minister Chairs Supreme Civil Defense Council Meeting
SadaNews - Today, Interior Minister Major General Ziad Heb Al-Raih chaired the Supreme Civil Defense Council meeting at the ministry's headquarters, attended by the Director General of Civil Defense Major General Akram Thweibta and council members.
A report mentioned that the Minister of Interior discussed the disaster risk management plan, which has been approved for the upcoming period, focusing on securing healthcare and education, as well as the safety of lives and property, and operating sectorally based on the current field conditions. Additionally, challenges related to climate change and the ongoing preparations and response plans for the autumn and winter seasons were discussed.
The Minister of Interior emphasized that the ministry attaches utmost importance to enhancing the capabilities of the civil defense apparatus, stressing the need to improve coordination among council members to address expected risks in the upcoming phase.
For his part, the Director General of Civil Defense, Major General Akram Thweibta, confirmed that the disaster risk management plan of civil defense is a comprehensive national plan implemented on three levels: a crisis cells plan for villages and residential communities, a mutual support plan at the provincial level, and a national plan at the level of the Supreme Civil Defense Council to lead any national effort. Major General Thweibta emphasized the council's role in ensuring the continuity of public life and providing essential needs for citizens.
Meanwhile, the Disaster Risk Management Directorate presented an overview of the plan, models, and implementation mechanisms, which will be distributed to the provinces and members according to their specialties, and a discussion was opened among council members.
