
The Public Prosecution, "Higher Education" and Palestinian Universities Sign a Cooperation Charter to Prepare Qualified Students to Serve the Nation and Its Citizens
SadaNews - The Public Prosecution, in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the Palestinian universities, signed a cooperation charter today, Monday, in Ramallah, titled: Academic and Professional Institutions for Preparing Qualified Students to Serve the Nation and Its Citizens.
The signing took place in the presence of Attorney General Akram Al-Khatib, Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr. Amjad Barham, and several heads of Palestinian universities, deans of community colleges, heads of the Public Prosecution, and partner civil society institutions, with support from the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation.
This charter aims to establish a framework for institutional cooperation between the Public Prosecution and law, community service, and media colleges in Palestinian universities. It additionally aims to link academic legal education with practical application in the fields of Public Prosecution, and to qualify law students in a field setting through sustainable training programs designed according to specific strategic objectives to achieve results that reflect on the practical reality in the offices of the Public Prosecution, support scientific research, and enhance legal culture in the community.
The Attorney General emphasized the importance of the partnership between the Public Prosecution and higher education institutions in promoting justice and building a qualified legal generation, noting that the training programs implemented by the prosecution over the past six years have enabled more than 1,400 law students to undergo practical training within the prosecution offices, in addition to seven intensive programs attended by more than 2,000 students, which included theoretical training and field visits to support children and families and to enhance legal culture in society.
Al-Khatib pointed to the launch of the National Academic Network of Palestinian universities, which brings together law professors and researchers to develop legal capacities and discuss emerging issues, explaining that this cooperation represents an investment in the Palestinian person and lays the foundation for an aware generation capable of safeguarding justice and serving the community.
In his speech, Minister Barham confirmed that signing this cooperative charter reflects a true partnership between the makers of Palestinian minds and justice, and aims to enhance awareness of the rights of the Palestinian citizen and his right to live in freedom and dignity in his homeland.
Barham indicated the importance of integration and cooperation among various national institutions, which contributes to promoting leadership to build genuine national institutions that belong to the homeland. He praised this first consultative meeting, which had a significant impact on raising awareness among children and their families regarding justice, mentioning the ongoing aggression of the occupation and the systematic killing policy in the Gaza Strip, which includes targeting students, teachers, schools, and universities, depriving students of their right to education, along with closures, barriers, economic blockade, and the piracy of the funds of the Palestinian National Authority, leading to the deprivation of Palestinians from living with dignity.
For his part, Dr. Mustafa Abu Al-Safa, President of Palestine Polytechnic University, confirmed that the partnership with the Public Prosecution aims to link academic education with judicial practices through practical training and technical support, especially in combating cyber, economic, and environmental crimes. He noted that the university seeks to exchange experiences, conduct applied research, and develop legal awareness programs to protect families and juveniles, considering this meeting a starting point for a sustainable partnership that serves justice and builds a homeland we are proud of.
Dr. Asem Khelil from Birzeit University emphasized that this consultative meeting represents an important stop, transcending a transient event, reflecting the depth of the relationship that binds the university with the Public Prosecution in the pursuit of justice, affirming that this partnership represents a strategic choice to build a solid educational system that contributes to developing the justice sector by linking academic knowledge with practical application and providing students with field experiences that enhance their capabilities and prepare them to serve the community effectively.
For her part, Dr. Raghad Dweik, President of Al-Khalil University, thanked the Public Prosecution for holding this consultative meeting in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and signing the cooperation charter with the law faculties in Palestinian universities, emphasizing the importance of enhancing cooperation between higher education institutions and the Public Prosecution to qualify students and enable them to closely observe the operational reality of the Public Prosecution, in addition to developing scientific research that serves the justice sector and the Palestinian community, stressing the importance of exchanging experiences and practical knowledge and providing training opportunities for students within the premises of the Public Prosecution, allowing them to learn about different experiences and practical applications in the field of justice.
Dr. Hussein Jadou from Al-Quds University expressed his happiness and pride in participating in this meeting, which provides students with a qualitative opportunity to learn about juvenile justice through the exchange of experiences and enhancing cooperation, and observing the field experiences that students acquire through training in the Public Prosecution, thanking the Public Prosecution for this constructive and ongoing collaboration with the Palestinian universities in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
For his part, Dr. Imad Al-Zeir, President of Palestine Ahliya University, pointed to the importance of developing scientific curricula and linking them to modern developments, enabling students to learn about the latest technologies and knowledge contributing to building an advanced justice system, expressing pride in collaborating with the Palestinian Public Prosecution and the Ministry of Education, emphasizing the necessity of enhancing it to serve students and faculty members, especially in areas of cybercrimes, artificial intelligence, and other relevant contemporary issues.
For his part, Dr. Hussein Shank, President of Palestine Technical University "Khadouri", confirmed that the university will remain a beacon of knowledge and education, while the Public Prosecution represents a safeguard and a guardian of justice, stressing the importance of expanding the horizons of cooperation with Palestinian universities, contributing to developing legislation and enhancing its role in serving the community and keeping pace with developments, clarifying that this cooperation includes juvenile cases, enhancing students' experiences, and raising their skills and knowledge of laws and regulations through joint training that allows them to have practical exposure to the reality of the work of the Public Prosecution.
