Nazareth: A preparatory meeting was held to establish a popular committee to represent the residents before the appointed committee
SadaNews - Following the dismissal of the Mayor of Nazareth and the members of the municipal council, which resulted in a disconnection between the city's residents and the local authority, a first preparatory meeting was held yesterday, Saturday, in the historical Saraya Square in the old town (the market), attended by several passionate individuals from the market neighborhood committee and political and social activists.
During the meeting, the initial steps for establishing a popular committee to represent the people of Nazareth before the appointed committee were announced.
Participants emphasized that the formation of the popular committee is a "timely demand," as it is a vital necessity for the city's residents to follow public issues and monitor the performance of the appointed committee.
The founding group agreed to begin work along two tracks:
• The first track: Structuring the committee and calling for a second preparatory meeting to expand the grassroots base.
• The second track: Engaging in fieldwork with the city's residents and following up on the relationship with the appointed committee.
Those present emphasized that the goal of this step is to defend Nazareth's issues and represent the interests of its people, confirming that the committee will begin its work in the coming days.
