Occupation Continues House Demolition Operation in Al-Sar Village in the Negev Region

SadaNews - Israeli occupation forces continue today, Thursday, to demolish homes belonging to the residents of Al-Sar village, which is unrecognized and located west of Shaqab al-Salam town in the Negev region, southern occupied Palestine in 1948.

According to available information, the authorities have demolished more than 25 homes belonging to the Abu Adwan, Al-Kharumi, and Al-Dabari families.

Dozens of residents, including children, women, and the elderly, were left homeless in the open air after their homes were demolished.

Widespread demolition operations targeting dozens of inhabited homes are expected to continue.

A number of residents mentioned that a reinforced force from the occupation police and its units arrived in Al-Sar village and provided protection for the demolition vehicles and bulldozers. Olive trees were uprooted, homes were burned and destroyed, and flattened to the ground.

In this context, residents of Al-Sar village, during the past few days, demolished many of their own homes, fearing that Israeli authorities would demolish them and impose hefty fines.

The residents reported that Israeli authorities, led by the "Bedouin Settlement Authority," deliberately refrain from providing any practical solutions after the demolition, aiming to uproot and displace them from the village.

The population of Al-Sar village is about 1,500 inhabitants. Recently, the village has witnessed extensive demolition operations targeting more than 60 homes and agricultural facilities in three phases, and it is expected that more than 200 homes will be demolished in the coming weeks, following a decision issued by the Magistrate's Court in Beersheba to evacuate the village.

These operations are part of an escalating demolition campaign that, since the beginning of the current Netanyahu government, has affected more than 5,000 homes and facilities in the Negev region, with an increase in its pace by more than 400%. This campaign is implemented as part of Israeli plans aiming to confine as many residents of the Negev as possible to a smaller area within recognized towns and cities, while displacing residents of unrecognized villages, of which there are 38, inhabited by about 90,000 people, in preparation for establishing Jewish settlement towns on their ruins.

The occupation authorities continue to demolish homes, commercial shops, and industrial workshops in Arab towns under the pretext of lack of permits, as witnessed in Rahat, Tuba-Zangariya, Jdeideh-Makr, Yarka, Al-Zarzir, Akka, Nazareth, Umm al-Fahm, Shfaram, Sakhnin, Ein Mahil, Jaffa, Kafr Qasim, Qalansuwa, Kafr Yasif, Araara, Lod, Harfeesh, Kafr Qara, and other Arab towns in the Negev region.
