Crisis Surrounds "Inter Milan" Due to Translation Error
SadaNews - Reports have indicated that the media office of Inter Milan felt frustrated after an error by a French media outlet in the text of an interview with the "Nerazzurri" captain Lautaro Martinez.
The Italian club clarified that it has some issues regarding Martinez's interview with "France Football" magazine.
The player recently had a conversation with the French magazine, discussing various topics, including the 2025 UEFA Champions League final, the departure of Simone Inzaghi from coaching the "Nerazzurri", and his nomination for the Ballon d'Or.
A mistake appeared in the text while Martinez was discussing the defeat in the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain and Inzaghi's subsequent departure to Al Hilal Saudi Club.
Paris Saint-Germain won the UEFA Champions League for the first time in its history after defeating Inter Milan by five goals.
Martinez said, "The coach never told us that he received an offer or that he would leave. Therefore, we were far removed from all the rumors and focused on our objectives."
However, the original article - published by "France Football" - mistakenly omitted the player's denial of an offer being made to Inzaghi and his readiness to depart, which completely changed the meaning and suggested the opposite of what he had stated.
According to updates from "Corriere dello Sport", this error caused frustration among the "Nerazzurri" and prompted the club's media office to reportedly request a correction.
It was also reported that Martinez himself requested an amendment to the quote.
The newspaper reported that Inzaghi did not reach an agreement with Al Hilal when he managed the UEFA Champions League final last season, firmly believing that this had no impact on the decisive result against PSG.
Al Hilal announced on June 5th of last year the signing of Inzaghi to replace Portuguese Jorge Jesus.
In his interview, Martinez attempted to indicate the same matter, revealing that the players were "unaware" of what was happening behind the scenes.
"France Football" made a mistake in translating the quotes from Spanish, stating, "At that point, the coach informed us that he had received an offer and would leave. So we ignored those rumors and focused on all our objectives."
Inter contacted the magazine and requested that they change the translation to better reflect what happened, and the word "never" was removed from the translation, which the media team at Inter added to the published text.
