Qatar Calls on Iran to Immediately Stop Attacks for a Diplomatic Solution
SadaNews - The spokesperson for the Qatari Foreign Ministry, Majid Al-Ansari, confirmed that Iran must immediately stop its attacks and threats against civilian targets, to facilitate a diplomatic solution to the escalating crisis in the region. Al-Ansari explained that communications are still ongoing with various parties to ensure that the Strait of Hormuz remains open for international navigation, noting that the continuation of these assaults hinders any efforts for a political settlement.
He added that the partial evacuation witnessed in some areas of Doha on Saturday came after an Iranian missile targeted a residential neighborhood, affirming that Qatar will not hesitate to defend itself against these threats. He pointed out that his country has sent the eighth message to the United Nations Secretary-General regarding the repeated attacks on Gulf countries, as part of efforts to internationalize the issue and establish a unified international stance.
Al-Ansari emphasized that Arab coordination is ongoing daily during this sensitive phase to contain the escalation, confirming that stopping the assaults requires a clear decision from the Iranian Foreign Minister. He concluded by saying that Qatar is committed to diplomatic solutions but will not stand idle in the face of any threat to its security and the stability of the region.
