The Mufti Calls for Monitoring the Crescent of the Month of Shawwal After Sunset on Wednesday

SadaNews - The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian Territories, Head of the Supreme Fatwa Council, Mohammad Hussein, has called on citizens to observe the crescent of the month of Shawwal after sunset on Wednesday, 29 Ramadan 1447 AH, corresponding to March 18, 2026.

Sheikh Hussein urged anyone who sights the crescent to contact the Palestinian Fatwa Office in Jerusalem or the nearest fatwa office in their area to give their testimony. He provided the following contact numbers: 02-6260042, 02-6260102, fax: [phone], mobile: [phone], and another mobile: [phone].

He noted that at least two just witnesses are required to confirm the sighting of the Shawwal crescent, as this marks the end of the fasting period.

Sheikh Hussein also encouraged citizens to follow the Voice of Palestine radio and Palestinian television, as well as the Palestinian satellite channel on the evening of Wednesday, when it will be officially announced whether the Shawwal crescent has been confirmed or not, based on his decision in this matter.
