Young man from Baqa al-Gharbiyye accused of joining ISIS
SadaNews - The prosecution affiliated with the occupation submitted an indictment to the court in Haifa today, Thursday, against a young man named Najib Deek (25 years old) from the city of Baqa al-Gharbiyye in the Triangle area, charging him with joining the ISIS organization.
According to the indictment presented by attorney Mor Ben Abu from the Haifa district attorney's office, "Starting from February of this year, the accused showed a growing interest in ISIS and its activities. He was following videos and content on social media and in Telegram groups connected to the organization, including footage of executions and fighting from Syria and Iraq."
The indictment indicates that "at a later stage, the accused watched a video that included the pledge of allegiance to the organization, and he read aloud the text of the announcement while mentioning the name of the current ISIS leader, thus pledging allegiance to the organization and considering himself a member of it. Afterwards, he studied the possibility of traveling to Somalia with the aim of joining ISIS fighters."
According to the indictment, "In the months of April and May, the accused traveled several times by car near the settlement of Mevoot, listened to jihadist songs, and contemplated detonating an explosive device in a booth where soldiers were present, with the aim of killing them."
It is noted that the prosecution accuses the defendant of "membership in a terrorist organization only," and there is no mention of planning an operation.
