Occupation forces demolish 7 houses in the village of Al-Sar in the Negev region
SadaNews - This morning, Tuesday, Israeli occupation forces' vehicles and bulldozers demolished 7 houses in the village of Al-Sar, an unrecognized village located west of the town of Shaqab Salam in the Negev region, southern Israel.
Demolition vehicles stormed the area under the protection of a large number of occupation police, who cordoned off the demolition site and prevented residents from approaching.
The population of the village of Al-Sar is about 1,500 people. The village has witnessed extensive demolition operations in recent months, affecting more than 60 homes and agricultural facilities in three phases, and it is expected that more than 200 homes will be demolished in the coming weeks, following a decision issued by the Peace Court in Beersheba mandating the evacuation of the village.
These operations are part of an escalating demolition campaign, which has affected more than 5,000 homes and facilities in the Negev region since the beginning of the current Netanyahu government, with the pace of demolitions increasing by more than 400%. This is in implementation of Israeli plans aimed at confining as many of the Negev residents as possible to the smallest area within recognized towns and cities, and displacing the residents of the unrecognized villages, of which there are 38 inhabited by about 90,000 people, in preparation for establishing Jewish settlement towns on their ruins.
