Occupation Forces Demolish 7 Homes in the Village of Al-Sar in the Negev Region
Sada News - Israeli occupation forces' vehicles and bulldozers demolished 7 homes in the village of Al-Sar this morning, Tuesday. Al-Sar is an unrecognized village located west of the town of Shaqib al-Salam in the Negev region, southern Israel.
The demolition vehicles entered the area under the protection of a large force of occupation police, who cordoned off the demolition site and prevented residents from approaching.
The population of the village of Al-Sar is approximately 1,500 residents. In recent months, the village has witnessed extensive demolition operations affecting more than 60 homes and agricultural facilities in three phases, and it is expected that more than 200 homes will be demolished in the coming weeks following a decision by the Beersheba Magistrate's Court to evacuate the village.
These operations are part of an escalating demolition campaign that has affected more than 5,000 homes and facilities in the Negev region since the beginning of the current Netanyahu government, with the rate of demolitions increasing by more than 400%. This is in line with Israeli plans aimed at confining as many Negev residents as possible to the smallest area within recognized towns and cities, and displacing residents of the 38 unrecognized villages, home to about 90,000 people, in preparation for the establishment of Jewish settlement towns on their ruins.
