Fattouh Condemns Occupation's Withdrawal of Residency Permits Granted to Australian Representatives in the State of Palestine
SadaNews - The President of the Palestinian National Council, Rouhi Fattouh, condemned the decision issued by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the occupation authority, Gideon Sa'ar, to withdraw the residency permits granted to Australian representatives in the State of Palestine. He regarded it as a blatant violation of diplomatic norms and international law, especially the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
Fattouh affirmed that this arbitrary measure represents an unlawful interference in the sovereign relations between the State of Palestine and the countries that recognize it, and a clear breach of signed agreements, foremost among them the Oslo Accords.
He emphasized that the State of Palestine rejects all forms of political blackmail practiced by the occupation authority under flimsy pretexts, considering this decision invalid and null, with no legal effect.
Fattouh noted that this dangerous escalation again reveals the truth of the aggressive policies of the occupation, which hide behind false slogans and utilize baseless accusations, such as "anti-Semitism", to justify the repression of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and interference in the sovereign affairs of states.
He confirmed the full support of the Palestinian National Council for the Australian position that is consistent with the principles of justice and international legitimacy through its recognition of the State of Palestine.
Fattouh called on the international community and the United Nations to condemn these practices and to halt the occupation's repeated violations of international norms and treaties.
