Mustafa Directs the Implementation of More Programs for Infrastructure Projects in Hebron Governorate

SadaNews - Prime Minister Dr. Muhammad Mustafa affirmed the government's commitment to supporting the steadfastness of citizens, achieving internal stability, and addressing all issues of concern to citizens, particularly the water crisis in Hebron Governorate, violations on water lines, asthma issues, cash deposits, and the needs of the private sector, emphasizing the need for joint efforts among all sectors to address vital issues for Hebron.

This came during his visit to Hebron Governorate, which included a series of intensive meetings with local stakeholders, including heads of chambers of commerce, business councils, unions, businessmen, and heads of several municipalities and the industry union, along with directors of the security institution in the governorate and secretaries of the regions, in the presence of Hebron Governor Khaled Dudin, as well as Interior Minister Ziad Hebari, Local Government Minister Sami Hajjaoui, Education and Higher Education Minister Amjad Barham, National Economy Minister Mohammad Al-Amour, Industry Minister Aref Asfour, Culture Minister Imad Hamdan, Secretary General of the Cabinet Dawas Dawas, and heads of the Water Authority Ziad Al-Mayami and the Energy Authority Ayman Ismail.

The Prime Minister discussed with private sector representatives the efforts made to revive the economy under the difficult circumstances we are experiencing, in addition to following up on financial issues, including adherence to cash deposit limits that were agreed upon with the Monetary Authority and banking institutions, as well as quota standards, improving import and export conditions, and other issues.

Mustafa emphasized the complementary and important role of the private sector in political, economic, and financial stability, stressing the continuation of efforts to achieve further accomplishments regarding the issues at hand.

Moreover, the Prime Minister confirmed that municipalities and local bodies are a key and important partner, and the government is keen to empower them and enhance their work to provide the best services to citizens, through financial settlements, recruiting more grants and programs to implement infrastructure projects, praising their efforts and cooperation with the relevant authorities in addressing many issues, especially combating violations of water lines to alleviate the water crisis facing Hebron Governorate.

Mustafa stated: "We will continue to fight against violations in all their forms and find suitable solutions to the water crisis, accumulating efforts through the maintenance of wells, networks, and seeking to secure more necessary water resources."

In this context, the Prime Minister directed the relevant authorities to implement more programs for infrastructure projects in the Hebron Governorate and the old town in particular, and to address various needs of the governorate and the difficulties facing the Palestinian economy due to the Israeli blockade and ongoing settler attacks.

Regarding the asthma issue in the industrial area of Hebron city, it was agreed on practical steps to relocate asthma to the Khalet Al-Sharbati area under the supervision of the Hebron Municipality and follow-up from the Water Authority.

Additionally, during a meeting he chaired with security institution leaders and regional secretaries in the governorate, attended by the governor and the Interior Minister, the Prime Minister was briefed on the security situation in the governorate, emphasizing the need to uphold the rule of law and maintain internal stability amid current challenges, praising the efforts of the security institution and their intense work in protecting public and private property and maintaining public order.

For their part, representatives of the Hebron Governorate stakeholders praised the government's efforts to address the accumulated crises in the governorate, mainly the financial settlements with local bodies and electricity and water distribution companies, addressing violations on water lines, and tax evasion, and the importance of that in protecting local industry, trade, and the national economy.

It is noteworthy that the relevant ministries are implementing a number of development projects in Hebron Governorate, including the existence of 173 projects currently underway or recently completed under the supervision of the Ministry of Local Government and with government funding within the allocations for transport funds on roads, which include the development of infrastructure in terms of roads, water, electricity, sewage, and executed buildings, with an overall amount of 92 million shekels. The Ministry of Local Government, through the Municipal Development and Lending Fund, is also implementing a recovery program and worker employment worth $7.7 million benefiting 45 local bodies, in addition to the fourth phase of the municipalities development program worth more than 17 million euros benefiting 24 local bodies, along with other interventions implemented by the Ministry of Public Works related to the repair and rehabilitation of roads and infrastructure in Dura, Deir Samet, Al-Ramadin, Yatta, and Sa'ir, with a total amount exceeding 15 million shekels.
