SadaNews - The State of Palestine participated in the preparatory meeting of senior officials for the fifty-second session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, held at the headquarters of the organization's General Secretariat in Jeddah, from January 31 to February 2, 2026, as part of the preparations for the upcoming ministerial session of the council.

The State of Palestine was represented at the meeting by the Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, His Excellency Ambassador Hadi Shubli, accompanied by First Counselor Nassim Zaanin, and Second Secretary Athar Omri.

The meeting witnessed the discussion and adoption of several draft resolutions related to the Palestinian issue, all of which were approved by consensus. Among the most prominent were draft resolutions concerning the Palestinian issue as the central issue of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, reaffirming that Al-Quds Al-Sharif is the capital of the State of Palestine, in addition to a draft resolution on financial support mechanisms for the Palestinian people, a draft resolution on supporting and expediting the recognition of the State of Palestine and its full membership in the United Nations, as well as a draft resolution addressing the current status of the peace process in the Middle East.

The Palestinian delegation emphasized during its participation the importance of these resolutions in strengthening the Palestinian political and legal position on the international stage, and in supporting the resilience of the Palestinian people and their legitimate struggle to achieve their inalienable national rights, foremost of which is their right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
